Dr. Muhammad Rafiqul Islam

Dr. Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, MBBS, MD, MSc, FACP, is a Bangladeshi medical oncologist and precision health researcher, currently serving as an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH), Dhaka, and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Population and Precision Health, University of Chicago. He earned his MBBS from Sir Salimullah Medical College and MD in Medical Oncology from the University of Dhaka, followed by a master’s in Precision Health from the University of Chicago in 2024.

Dr. Islam’s research focuses on precision oncology, with emphasis on genetic, reproductive, and circulating biomarkers in lung and breast cancer, and multimodal approaches integrating radiomics, genomics, and EHR data for early detection. He has authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications, presented at major oncology conferences, and collaborates with institutions like Mayo Clinic. A recipient of the ASCO IDEA Award, he remains committed to advancing equitable cancer care in resource-constrained settings.
