Maj Gen (Prof) Dr. Md Azizul Islam

Maj Gen (Prof) Dr. Md Azizul Islam is the Chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society. He was the Consultant Physician General at the Directorate General of Medical Service, Ministry of Defence, Bangladesh, and a leading figure in medical oncology and internal medicine. A graduate of Sir Salimullah Medical College (MBBS, 1985), he earned his FCPS in Medicine in 1999 and specialized in Medical Oncology through advanced training in Pakistan and Singapore. With over three decades of service, Dr. Islam has held key academic and clinical positions, including Chair of the Department of Medical Oncology at CMH Dhaka and Professor of Medicine at AFMC. A prolific contributor to medical literature, his research spans oncology, infectious diseases, and public health, including pioneering clinical trials during the COVID-19 pandemic. He has presented at global conferences such as ASCO, ESMO, and the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. A committed educator and examiner at BCPS, Dr. Islam is dedicated to advancing cancer care and medical education in Bangladesh.
